Frequent Questions

Will I Look Weird?

I use only the very best know-how and skill to achieve the best result for you based on your body.    Everybody's body is different, so results will naturally vary from patient-to-patient.  A realistic expectation is that you should achieve a superior result for your body.  When you chose a surgeon who is fully credentialed and highly experienced in plastic surgery, you can be assured that the outcome has the highest likelihood of being very good.

Many people don't realize that not all doctors who perform cosmetic procedures are not plastic surgeons and that, in fact, a plastic surgeon differs from a cosmetic surgeon.  All licensed physicians are allowed to perform cosmetic procedures or any other medical procedure, for that matter.  However, as opposed to picking up training through one-year fellowships, weekend seminars, or on the job development, plastic surgeons who are Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery devote an additional 7 to 10 years of specific education after medical school and pass rigorous written and oral examinations to become a Board Certified Plastic SurgeonThe training and experience a  fully-credentialed plastic surgeon develops is geared toward optimizing safety, minimizing the effects of surgical trauma such as scarring, swelling, and discomfort and maximizing the final benefit of each procedure.

How Much Does It Cost?

Doctors are not allowed by law to share information regarding the pricing of their services with other doctors, so fees are not standardized.  From what we are told by patients, they range widely for the same procedures.    They are also different based on the specifics of each patient's needs and the level of care provided.  There are many things that go into fee structures, but we have noticed that larger practices tend to charge more, and we assume that is to support more employees, overhead and other pressing financial demands.   My  office is smaller and focused on patient care and delivery of superior results.  What we also hear from patients is that we are very reasonable given our professional status, experience, facilities used and the outstanding results we consistently delivers.

You may  be surprised to find that there is no less expensive alternative that gives you the desired superior result that you have in mind. Is It Safe?

Plastic Surgeons and surgeons in general are granted privileges to operate in hospitals and fully-licensed and accredited surgery centers that are required to maintain strict standards and protocols to ensure patient safety and care.  Other medical specialties are not routinely granted these privileges and will perform procedures in off-site settings such as their offices.   It is important to understand the benefits and potential risks associated with each environment.

A very common concern people have about any surgery regards the type of anesthesia used.  Some people assume general anesthesia is extremely dangerous and that local anesthetics are safer.   General anesthesia and the practice of anesthesia has advanced significantly through the years.  Today's agents are shorter acting and very unlikely to cause problems.  In some cases, local anesthetics can be riskier and can affect your comfort and even the result of your surgery.  I and other members of the surgical team will thoroughly assess your health history and not suggest anything that would put you at foreseeable risk.

If you are interested in learning more about specific procedures that you’ve been thinking of having done, please call to schedule a consultation. I will personally spend enough time with you to fully discuss all your options and a recommended course of treatment that will meet both your expectations and budget.
