Abdominoplasty

This is most often performed on women who have completed childbirth. Childbirth often leaves them with excess skin, stretch marks, and fat, especially in the lower abdomen.  More importantly, there is also laxity and stretching of the muscles of the abdominal wall, resulting in a "pot belly." The abdominal muscles are tightened and the excess skin and fat removed, leaving a more youthful and flat abdomen.  This procedure yields great satisfaction for most patients, however, it does require some pain management and limitation of heavy lifting for six weeks.  In the meantime, all other activities can be resumed as tolerated.
